Governance and BEE
CHOC is governed by a board and executive committee, to whom the chief executive officer reports. CHOC provides audited financial statements on an annual basis, which are published in the annual review.
CHOC complies with South African labour laws and employment equity requirements. The organisation has a documented Employment Equity Plan and targets, which are reported on annually.
Board members are elected on a yearly basis at regional level and meet four times a year. Operational members and the executive committee meet on a monthly basis. The regional managers of the six regions are supported by a head office staff complement headed by the CEO, the senior management team that consists of Admin, IT, HR, Finance, Business Development, Programme and Psychosocial Services.

We are a NPO and rely on funds donated by individuals, companies, trusts and foundations, and investments. We also host a number of fundraising projects and events to accrue further funding. We are one of 10 charities that receive funds via The Giving Organisation, through payroll giving, invoice giving, and other initiatives; and are also a beneficiary of the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet loyalty card programme and have The Cows as a fundraising arm for CHOC.
Benefits to donors
Cash donations qualify for a tax deduction and CHOC will issue the relevant documentation to donors within a four-week period. The donation of services or donations of any reciprocal nature do not qualify for a tax deduction. To download a Section18A request form, please click here.
All cash donations made to CHOC qualify as a Social Economic Development assistance as defined by the BEE Codes of Good Practice. Board and Exco
Several board and committee members are bereaved parents or parents of children that survived cancer. Board and ExCo members serve in a voluntary capacity and only expenses incurred to attend meetings are reimbursed.
