CHOC provides care bags to all newly-diagnosed children that contain basic toiletries, beanies, scarves, toys and information. As many children come from impoverished backgrounds, there is sometimes a need for basic necessities and in some cases nutritional support. After assessment by the social workers, CHOC provides food parcels to parents who need it. Sandwiches are served in some outpatient units and in some cases parents receive “padkos” when they return home. If required, CHOC also provides bereavement and grief support and assists with funeral funds where needed.
