Position:          Regional Development Coordinator (Fundraiser)

Based at:              CHOC Durban Office, KZN

Reports to:          Regional Manager – KZN

Purpose:               To contribute to the financial sustainability of the region by assisting with the development of a fundraising strategy and actively contributing to the financial growth in the region to meet the annual income targets.

 

Responsibilities:

Fundraising and Donor Relationships:
  1. To provide a financial sustainability of the region with the support the Regional Manager by maintaining and growing the donor database.
  2. To build active relationships with potential and existing donors and stakeholders.
  3. To assist with donor communication, requests, and acknowledgments.
  4. To develop events and campaign strategies and plans to achieve regional and national campaign objectives.
  5. To successful pre-plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns in collaboration with the Regional Manager, volunteers, and relevant staff.
  6. To develop comprehensive operating plans and budget for each event/campaign.
  7. To co-ordinate the design and production of all event/campaign related marketing material in line with CHOC’s Corporate Identity as well relevant merchandise. To monitor, asses and report on events and campaigns fundraising status (pre, during and post-event/campaign).
  8. To work in collaboration with the Regional Communication Assistant and National Events Coordinator to generate publicity for campaign.

 

Development Strategy
  1. To increase funding by creating and implementing a fundraising plan that details how the region solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as corporates, grants, foundations, schools, community organisations, in-kind donations, charitable events and marketing opportunities.
  2. To share the fundraising plans with the Regional Manager for oversight and leadership.

 

Public Relations:
  1. To create regional marketing materials, social media and advertising campaigns as part of a public relations strategy.
  2. To expand the brand visibility to target audiences through community relations, speaking engagements, newsletters, and charitable events in the region

 

Corporate Volunteering
  1. To develop and manage a regional corporate volunteering programme;
  2. To liaise with regional staff in identifying corporate volunteering opportunities.

 

General Administration, Data Management & Reporting:
  1. To maintain the CRM with timely updates of all records relating to donors, donations, campaigns, and events.
  2. To prepare the monthly regional reports regarding fundraising income and in-kind savings and submit to the Regional Manager.
  3. To submit weekly reports on the status of donors, events, and campaigns.
  4. To provide input to the Regional Manager with the income section of the region’s annual budget.
  5. To ensure that all CHOC policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
  6. To undertake all responsibilities and tasks embracing CHOC’s values, ethos, and behaviours

 

Applicant Requirements:

Education: Suitably qualified candidate with a relevant bachelor’s degree.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years corporate fundraising experience within a NPO (Non-Profit Organisation) as well as in but not limited to, public relations, prospecting, business development and negotiation. Persuasive writing, strong verbal communication and the ability to interact with company executives.

Additional Training/Experience:  High level computer literacy, excellent written and verbal communication skills, social media, research skills and high net worth networking.

Skills and Attributes:  Strong proven relationship building, and solicitation skills are important. Attention to detail, organizing skills, ability to work under pressure, creative and analytical skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to a wide range of corporate donors, strong planning skills, including the ability to anticipate tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines and function smoothly under strict deadlines and shifting priorities, strong team player who also works well independently.

Other: Valid driver’s license essential.

Salary in the range of R276 000 – R306 000 per annum, CHOC contributes towards a pension fund and medical aid after a successful probationary period.

House Support Assistant

AREA: CHOC GAUTENG SOUTH (DIEPKLOOF HOUSE)

POSITION: HOUSE SUPPORT ASSISTANT

REPORTING TO: DIEPKLOOF HOUSE SUPERVISOR

MAIN PURPOSE:

Assist with the support given to patients and parents / caregivers at the CHOC house.  The incumbent’s job description is not limited to the following.

 

THE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
 Service Provider of Choice:
  • Ensure that the appropriate standard of services and support are provided for the children and their families.

 

Cleaning:
  • Clean the premises throughout
  • Change bed linen and do laundry
  • Defrost and clean fridges
  • Clean the inside and outside of windows every six weeks
  • Clean laundry once a week
  • Dustbins to be put out on collection day

 

 Stock Control:
  • Ensure that soap, towels, and toilet rolls are provided as necessary
  • Check the availability of stock in the kitchen to assist House Supervisor
  • Update room occupancy records daily

 

Meals and Refreshments:
  • Prepare nutritional meals for children and parents/caregivers
General:
  • Assist with arrangements for meetings
  • Wear the uniform provided and name tag when on duty
  • Complete the attendance register on arrival and departure
  • Ensure that parents complete the admission forms on arrival and that the required indemnities required are signed
  • Provide tea/coffee for donors and volunteers 
THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST ARE:

Qualification: Grade 8 onwards

Experience: Experience in the following areas is essential – caring for people comprised by illness, Household management skills, cooking and house maintenance and cleaning.

Additional Training: Computer literate, first aid and CPR qualification (or willingness to be trained in these areas), Ability to communicate in African languages, and aspirational skills.

Skills and Attributes: Compassion, empathy, patience, and discretion.  Highly motivated that will take initiative and additional responsibility, willingness to work weekends.

CHOC PMB Regional Assistant- Administrator

MAIN PURPOSE:

CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA is seeking to employ a Regional Assistant that will be based at our CHOC House in Pietermaritzburg, KZN. This role requires a meticulous, detail orientated and mature individual to carry out the role. The incumbent may be required to develop, establish, and maintain parental and family support programmes through the supervision of the CHOC Houses in PMB and providing an appropriate environment for children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders and their parents/caregivers.

 

CRITERIA: This is a live in position at CHOC in PMB with alternate weekends off. The position requires a mature yet understanding individual of high integrity that has no encumbrances which will compromise family life and reside in KZN- preferably PMB. The ideal candidate must have a valid driver’s license and must be able to drive, be proficient in both written and spoken English and in Isizulu. Computer Literacy is a requirement together with Matric and a tertiary certificate or qualification in the field of Residential Care coupled with Office Administration.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

 

Accommodation And Staff Supervision:

  • Ensuring effective day to day running of the CHOC house & pastoral care.
  • Manage the House Support Staff.
  • To ensure that Health and Safety legislation is complied with.
  • To manage the collection of donations and ensure that thank-you letters are sent.
  • To manage the gardener and any contractor assigned to the property.
  • To run weekly maintenance and staff meetings with the CHOC House staff, follow ups for CHOC Houses and attend meetings in Durban.
  • To maintain a daily Activity Report for the House Staff and submit to the Regional Manager monthly.

Financial Responsibilities:

  • General procurement.
  • To collect CHOC House petty cash sheets for submission to the Regional Coordinator and ensure that the amount received balances with the amounts disbursed.
  • To disburse transport funds to relevant families who meet the transport policy criteria.
  • To disburse financial bereavement support.
  • To work closely with Regional Coordinator

Volunteer Mobilization & Coordination:

  • Assist with the recruitment, selection and training of volunteers to assist in programmes and activities.

Awareness:

  • Assisting with the community outreach programme & regional general awareness campaigns.

Fundraising:

  • Create a donor pipeline of potential donors in the area.
  • Assisting with fundraising initiatives as per RM request.

Administrative Duties:

  • Capturing of all information pertaining to our programmes onto CRM programme.
  • Compile and submit monthly Narrative, and Stats Reports, timeously.
  • Inform Durban office of all cash and kind donations with relevant details, in writing.
  • General filing and ad-hoc admin duties
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST ARE:

Qualification:

  • Matric with Tertiary certificate or qualification in residential care
  • Experience:
  • Experience at supervisory level in residential care
  • Minimum 2-3 years proven experience at Residential Care coupled with strong Admin

  • Confident in communication
    • A team player who works independently;
    • A strong work ethic aligned with CHOC’s mission and values.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.
